For the past 5 years, I've had a child on my hip during church.
There was always a person that needed looking after.
That needed a diaper change.
That needed a nap.
Today at church,
I was childless.
We didn't bring in a diaper bag.
We didn't take any toys.
There were no snacks,
Or crayons.
My children sat on the row, mostly.
Without squirming, mostly.
And behaved...
Mostly.
And when the big meeting was over and it was time to go to class,
They each walked to their respective doors,
and said "Bye Mom!"
And never looked back.
I was always told this day would come...
But I didn't believe it.
and yet...
Here I am.
Alone.
In the hall.
By myself.
With just my purse.
And my own thoughts.
My someday has finally come.
There was always a person that needed looking after.
That needed a diaper change.
That needed a nap.
Today at church,
I was childless.
We didn't bring in a diaper bag.
We didn't take any toys.
